One of the most recognizable landmarks in all of America's wild spaces, Half Dome is a granite mammoth at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley. Named for its shape, one side of the dome is sheered while the others remain smooth and round. The summit can be reached either by climbing its steep face or braving the cables that extend up the rounded back side.
